Kristin Brown is a visual artist and educator based in the Philadelphia area. She currently teaches Visual Arts at The Haverford School in Haverford, Pennsylvania, where her courses include digital art, graphic design, photography, video, and computer-aided design. Her classroom sits at the intersection of art, design, technology, and making, with students moving between cameras, Adobe software, laser cutters, traditional materials, and whatever new tools might help bring an idea to life.

Originally from Long Island, New York, Kristin earned her BFA in Photographic Illustration from the Rochester Institute of Technology and her MAT in Art Education from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. Before joining Haverford, she taught at Ethical Culture Fieldston School in the Bronx, The Westminster Schools in Atlanta, and The Baldwin School in Bryn Mawr. Teaching in such different communities has shaped her belief that the strongest art classrooms are places where students have room to experiment, take creative risks, develop their own voices, and make work that matters to them.

Kristin is particularly interested in student-centered curriculum, design thinking, photography, digital media, emerging technologies, and finding meaningful ways to connect contemporary tools with the creative process. She regularly presents her work as an educator at regional and national conferences and is an Adobe Creative Educator Leader and Site Lead for the Adobe Student Ambassador Program. Her professional work has also included exploring artificial intelligence in art education, authentic assessment, laser cutting, and student-led approaches to curriculum and reflection.

Alongside teaching, Kristin maintains her own creative practice. Her background is rooted in photography, but her work has expanded to include painting and mixed media. She is drawn to work that explores perception, memory, place, and personal experience, and she values the same sense of curiosity and experimentation in her own studio practice that she encourages in her students.

Travel is another important part of Kristin's life and creative perspective. Whether photographing streets in Morocco, studying art and culture in Guatemala, hiking with her family, or exploring closer to home, she is continually looking, collecting, noticing, and learning. Outside the classroom and studio, Kristin enjoys traveling, hiking, gardening, working on her old house, and spending time with her husband, two children, and their dog.
